There’s something beautiful about walking into a bookstore.

The smell of fresh paper. The quiet atmosphere. Looking through stacks of books that you want to read.

I used to wander into bookstores just to look around, not even to buy anything. Before long, I’d find myself captivated by almost the whole shelf.

It’s an experience I love, and one that should never disappear.

However, life can sometimes get in the way.

Between work, raising kids, cooking meals, managing the household, carving out prayer time, and squeezing in hobbies… how many people really have the luxury of spending an afternoon strolling through bookstores anymore?

Why We Exist Online

The saints were united in their belief that spiritual reading is very beneficial for holiness.

- St. Bernard said that “prayer and reading are the two arms by which hell is vanquished and paradise won.”

- St. Athanasius once remarked that he had never seen a faithful Catholic who was not also devoted to reading.

- St Josemaria encourages not to “neglect your spiritual reading. Reading has made many saints.”

Spiritual readings strengthened the lives of St Athanasius, St Therese of Lisieux, St Augustine, St Teresa of Avila, St John Paul II, and many more.

But you can see the problem that many people run into. They want to read, but they don’t have enough time to fit in a run to the bookshop.

And that’s understandable. 

We’re here to make it simple, accessible, and trustworthy. Every book in our store is chosen to support your soul.

Reaching a New Generation

It’s no secret, Gen Z is reading less than any generation before it. Men, in particular, are struggling most with reading habits. And at the same time, atheism is rising.

But here’s the opportunity: Gen Z lives online.

That’s why Virtue Books is here. By being present in the digital space, we want to reintroduce the beauty of spiritual reading to a generation that desperately needs it.
